Chief Minister Dr. David Moinina Sengeh has called for renewed collective commitment to improving the lives of Sierra Leoneans, stressing the importance of unity, radical inclusion and effective delivery of government programmes.
Dr. Sengeh made the call during an interview with journalist Umaru Fofana on AYV Television’s State of the Nation, where he discussed his responsibilities as Chief Minister and the priorities of the Government led by President Julius Maada Bio.
He said his immediate priority is to serve President Bio and support the Government in delivering on its commitments to the people.
“The thing that keeps me awake every day is how I can serve President Bio, how I can ensure that we deliver for the people of this country,” Dr. Sengeh said.
The Chief Minister also responded to questions about whether he was positioning himself to succeed President Bio, saying his current focus remains on his responsibilities in government rather than succession politics.
“At this moment, my primary focus is to serve President Bio, ensure the SLPP continues to do well, and see that the government delivers for the people,” he said.
Dr. Sengeh further emphasized the importance of radical inclusion, noting that citizens from different backgrounds should have opportunities to participate in the country’s development.
He said improving the lives of Sierra Leoneans requires collective effort and a shared commitment to national development, particularly in areas such as public services, access to opportunities and better livelihoods.
According to the Chief Minister, the success of government should ultimately be measured by its ability to deliver tangible results and improve the quality of life of citizens.
He also stressed the need for unity and cooperation, arguing that Sierra Leone’s development requires collective action rather than division.
His comments come as the country continues to face economic and social challenges, placing greater emphasis on effective governance, inclusive participation and improved service delivery.
Dr. Sengeh reaffirmed his commitment to President Bio’s leadership and the SLPP administration, while stressing that government’s primary responsibility is to serve the people.
He said the collective objective should be to work together to build a better Sierra Leone and improve the conditions of its citizens.
