Ahead of the reopening of schools, Hon. Memunatu Jalloh, popularly known as Hon. Mems, has supported 150 top-performing pupils across Masimera Chiefdom with essential educational materials under her annual Educational Support Initiative.

The presentation ceremony, held on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at Konta Line, covered 50 primary schools, with the educational materials valued at more than 100 million old Leones.

Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Mems said the initiative was informed by findings from a 2023 baseline survey that identified several challenges affecting primary education in the chiefdom.

She noted that the prevailing economic situation has made it increasingly difficult for many parents to meet the educational needs of their children.

Hon. Mems explained that the initiative specifically targets high-performing NPSE pupils to motivate them to remain focused, work harder and achieve academic excellence.

She assured beneficiaries that the programme would continue to support deserving pupils across Masimera and beyond.

This year’s overall best-performing pupil was Isatu Kamara of EduNations Hope Academy Primary School in Rokassa, who scored 318 in the NPSE.

One of the beneficiaries, Isatu Conteh, thanked Hon. Mems for what she described as a timely intervention, noting that her parents could not afford some of the essential school materials she needed.

Parents and school heads also commended the initiative, describing it as timely and valuable support for pupils and their families, particularly at a time when many households are facing economic challenges.
