Legal aid board has engaged police officers at Moyamba district council hall on bail regulations. The training was for investigators and prosecutors in Moyamba district.
According to the paralegal representative in Moyamba, Haja Fatima Simbo when talking to officers in the training she revealed that the program is to let police officers understand the bail regulations adding that suspects sometimes face illegal detention due to lack of proper understanding of the bail regulations.
She further disclosed that legal aid board is established to protect the rights of citizens when the need arises and to provide legal representation for them.
She further stated that their organization also mediates conflict among people in their communities and help raise awareness of the laws in our country. She added that the organization has lots of success stories in the district in terms of protecting woman and girls.
She encouraged officers who attended the program to give out meaningful contribution during the session.
Senior officers who attended the meeting expressed appreciation to legal aid board for their timely support towards the police and assured them to do their level best as a force for good in the country. Some further disclosed that the training has built their capacity in terms of bail regulations.
