The Transnational Organized Crime Unit (TOCU) has seized a large consignment of suspected Tramadol during an operation in eastern Freetown as part of ongoing efforts to combat illegal drug trafficking in Sierra Leone.
The operation was conducted at Mammy Yoko Street, off Patton Street, where TOCU officers intercepted the suspected pharmaceutical drugs.
The operation was reportedly led by the Head of TOCU’s Forensic Laboratory, ASP Stevens, alongside the Operations Officer of the Freetown East Division, Tommy, and other TOCU personnel.
According to information available, the seizure forms part of TOCU’s ongoing efforts to disrupt suspected drug supply chains and prevent the illegal sale and distribution of pharmaceutical and narcotic substances.
The suspected drugs have been taken into custody as investigations continue to determine their origin, intended destination and the individuals allegedly involved in the consignment.
The seizure represents another intervention by TOCU in the fight against organised drug trafficking and the distribution of substances that could pose risks to public health and community safety.
TOCU continues to conduct targeted and intelligence-led operations aimed at disrupting illicit drug networks and strengthening the fight against organised crime in Sierra Leone.
