A security guard attached to Spur View Estate in the Western Area of Freetown has testified in court in a case involving the alleged theft of a generator valued at Le58,000.
The accused, Abdul Fofanah, a security officer, is alleged to have stolen an 8.5 KVA generator belonging to Santigie M’bayo.
When the charge was read and explained to him, the accused pleaded not guilty.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Eric A. Deen led the prosecution’s first witness, Moses Kamara, a fellow security officer, who testified before Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah.
Testifying in court, Kamara said he recognised the accused as an employee of the security agency. He recalled that on the date of the alleged incident, he received a telephone call from a man identified as Santos, informing him that a 5 KVA generator had gone missing from the location where the accused was working as a security guard.
The witness told the court that he did not see the accused after receiving the report. He later received another call informing him that someone knew the whereabouts of the accused.
Kamara said he went to Portee Junction, where he located the accused and attempted to apprehend him. He alleged that the accused resisted, but with the assistance of an OSD officer, they managed to take him to Lumley Police Station, where he reported the matter and provided a statement.
The witness was cross-examined by the accused.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Jah refused bail, citing the seriousness of the offence. The matter has been adjourned to 17th August 2026 for further hearing.
