A 34-year-old businessman, Ishmail Conteh, has been remanded at the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown by Magistrate John Manso Fornah of Pademba Road Court No. 2 after being charged with fraudulent conversion.
Conteh is facing one count of fraudulent conversion, contrary to Section 20(1)(iv)(a) of the Larceny Act, 1916.
According to the particulars of the offence, on Friday, 15 June 2026, at No. 10 Turay Drive, Angola, Goderich, Western Area, Freetown, the accused allegedly fraudulently converted to his own use or benefit certain property entrusted to him by Musa Kamara for the purpose of sale.
The property in question includes ten laptop computers valued at fifty-two thousand Leones (NLe52,000).
When the charge was read and explained to the accused, no plea was taken, as the matter is being handled as a committal proceeding.
The prosecution, led by DPC 18235 Kebbie K. Thoronka, informed the court that a copy of the case file and inquiry documents had been served on the accused.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Fornah denied bail, citing the seriousness of the alleged offence. The matter has been adjourned to 11 August 2026.
