The spate of motorcycle theft in the Western Rural District over the years has left members of the public wondering, leaving the police with no option but to call for public cooperation in the form of information leading to the arrest of those engaged in the roguish act.

The Media Officer for the Waterloo Police Station, Inspector Mohamed Kargbo has said it is difficult for the police to effect arrest considering the fact that these crimes take place in remote places.

He lamented over the recent incident at Mile 6 where a criminal  disguised as a passenger stopped the bike rider and was waylaid by a group of lurking thieves.

He said reports of similar attacks are all over the police station and police posts located in the district. He noted that the delay in charging criminals has a bearing on the refusal of third party witness who sometimes might not willing to cooperate with the investigation by volunteering relevant information to the police charged with the responsibility to charge criminals to court.

It could be recalled that few weeks ago, a police post was mounted in Four Mile for the first time leading to calm in the area which was once considered prone to criminal activities.
