Portee Community began their Group H campaign in the 1XBet ASSPA Inter-Community League 2026 with a 1-0 victory over Yams Farm Community in the opening fixture of the group, played on 26th July 2026, at the Approved School Playing Field.
The encounter, which marked the eighth group stage match of this year’s competition, was a closely contested affair with both communities creating opportunities in search of an early advantage. After a goalless first half, Portee Community found the breakthrough just two minutes after the restart with forward Abu Bakarr Koroma, firing home in the 47th minute after being brilliantly picked out by Bobby Kamara (22), to hand Portee the lead.
Yams Farm Community responded positively after falling behind, committing more players forward in search of an equalizer. However, Portee’s backline remained organized and resilient, frustrating every attacking move and preserving their slim advantage until the final whistle.
As the game grew more competitive, the referee was forced to take disciplinary action with goalkeeper Chernor M. Bah (#16) booked for time wasting, while substitute Abdulai A.B. Kamara (#10) was also booked for similar offense and Johnito Koroma (11) were all cautioned for Portee Community, while Victor Kamara (#18) received Yams Farm Community’s only booking.
Having produced a match-winning performance with the decisive goal and leading Portee’s attacking line throughout the contest, Abubakarr Koroma (#12) was deservedly named Man of the Match.
The result sees Portee Community collect a valuable three points to kick off their Group H journey in impressive fashion, while Yams Farm Community will aim to regroup and respond positively in their next fixture.
