The Government of Sierra Leone, represented by Hon. Minister of Sports Madam Augusta James-Teima and NSA Executive Director Mohamed Alphaka Conteh Esq., on Saturday, 25th July 2026, addressed Team Sierra Leone at Novotel in Glasgow, Scotland.
In her statement, Madam Augusta James-Teima, said: “As a Minister of Government, I feel excited to speak to the entire delegation, especially the athletes, our Ambassadors. The Government of President Bio is using sports to employ young people in the country. I am therefore encouraging you all to compete with every strength and zest. So far, I am impressed with your behaviour in these Games, and please continue to maintain and project the good image of Sierra Leone as the Games progress.”
Mohamed Alphaka Conteh Esq., Executive Director of the NSA, expressed appreciation to the Government and the National Olympic Committee for organizing Team Sierra Leone, and assured the athletes of the Government’s continued support.
Prince Vandi Sualley, President of the National Olympic Committee/ Commonwealth Games Association-Sierra Leone (NOC/CGA-SLE) said, “I want to encourage all the athletes to compete admirably and to maintain the highest standards of discipline before, during and after the games. As a country, we are in Glasgow with a respectable team size representing the entire Sierra Leone.” Vandi paid special tribute to the foreign-based athletes for their courageous decision to represent Sierra Leone.
Yayah Koroma, Chef de Mission for Team Sierra Leone, welcomed the delegation and commended the team for the quality representation during the Games Opening Ceremony.
Dr. Patrick Coker, former NOC/CGA President and Team Doctor admonished athletes to strictly observe all anti-doing regulations. He encouraged delegation members to immediately report any health challenge before, during and after the Games.
