The National Sports Authority of Sierra Leone, led by Executive Director Mohamed Alphaka Conteh Esq. and his team, participated in a British Esports Breakfast Roundtable Discussion in Glasgow, Scotland on Thursday 23rd July 2026.
The purpose of the engagement was to explore opportunities to establish and support Esports in Sierra Leone and across Commonwealth Nations and Territories.
Facilitated by the British Esport Federation Chairman Andy Payne and team, the discussion encouraged the NSA delegation to:
– Develop national policy frameworks for e-sports
– Build credibility and safeguarding standards
– Create pathways for young people in Sierra Leone
– Establish infrastructure and facilities
– Build a future where Sierra Leonean athletes and teams can compete, be recognized and celebrated alongside the best in e-sports
Key outcomes of the breakfast engagement included:
- Developing national policy frameworks
- Conducting country needs assessments
- Mapping ICT stakeholders
- Building e-sports governance and partnerships
- Expanding opportunities in marketing, communication, education, research and training
As part of the engagement, British Esports extended an invitation to the National Sports Authority to attend future training programs in the United Kingdom before the end of this year.
The NSA’s participation reflects Government’s commitment, through His Excellency President Dr. Julius Maada Bio, to diversify sports development and create new opportunities for Sierra Leonean youth in the digital space.
The engagement with British Esports is one of several strategic meetings the NSA is undertaking across the United Kingdom alongside the Commonwealth Games.
