Four traders have appeared before Magistrate John Manso Fornah at Pademba Road Magistrate Court No. 2 in Freetown for further hearing in an ongoing alleged wounding and assault case.

The accused persons Memunatu Turay, 32; Mariama Sillah, 44; Aminata Sillah, 41; and Adama Sillah, 46 are facing eight counts ranging from wounding, contrary to Section 20 of the Offences Against the Person Act, 1861, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, contrary to Section 47 of the same Act.

According to the particulars of offence, Memunatu Turay allegedly, on Thursday, 9th April 2026, at No. 2 Garrison Street, Freetown, in the Western Area of the Republic of Sierra Leone, maliciously wounded Ramata Koroma.

The second count alleges that on the same date and location, Memunatu Turay maliciously wounded Dusu Sillah.

The third count states that all four accused persons allegedly maliciously wounded Fatmata Koroma at the same location and on the same date.

The remaining counts allege that all the accused persons assaulted Ramata Koroma, Dusu Sillah, Fatmata Kamara, Fanta Sillah, and Hawanatu Koroma in a manner that resulted in actual bodily harm.

When the charges were read and explained to the accused persons, they all pleaded not guilty.

During the proceedings, Prosecuting Witness No. 4, Police Constable 18235 Thoronka K, led evidence from Fanta Sillah, a cookery seller, who told the court that she knew the complainants as her relatives and recognized the accused persons as neighbours residing in the same compound.

Testifying before the court, Fanta Sillah recalled that on 9th April 2026, an incident occurred between the complainants and the accused persons, which led to her appearance in court giving evidence.

Defence Counsel A. Conteh represented all four accused persons during the hearing.

Magistrate Fornah adjourned the matter to 28th July 2026 for continuation of evidence from Prosecution Witness No. 4.
