The accused person Esther Marian Fornah for the first time appeared before Magistrate Sahr Keikura of Court No 1 in Freetown on the 7th July, 2021 at the Pademba Court.
The accused person is also a student of the UNAMTEC University in Lunsar and a worker at the Lungi International Airport Kaffu Bullom Chiefdom.
The accused person is charge with two counts charge of conspiracy to defraud and larceny contrary to Laws of Sierra Leone.
According to police charge sheets, the accused person is charged with two counts of conspiracy to defraud and larceny.
It is alleged in count one that the accused person on the 26th April, 2021 at the Freetown International Airport Lungi in the Kaffu Bullom Chiefdom, in the Freetown judiciary district in the Western Area conspired together with Jabbie Sheriff, Eddie Henry Taylor, Mr. Abdul Kamara and others unknown to defraud Jason Barrett sixty four (64) carats pieces of diamond valued at eight-four thousand eight hundred Dollars ($84,899.00) equivalent to eighty hundred and fourty eight million Leones (Le848,000,000/00).
It is alleged in count two that the accused person on the 26th April, 2021 at the Freetown International Airport Lungi in the Kaffu Bullom Chiefdom, in the Freetown judicial district in the Western Area conspired together with Jabbie Sheriff, Eddie Henry Taylor, Mr. Abdul Kamara and others unknown to defraud Jason Barrett sixty four (64) carats pieces of diamond valued at eight-four thousand eight hundred Dollars ($84,899.00) equivalent to eighty hundred and fourteen eight million Leones (Le848,000,000/00).
The accused person pleaded guilty on both counts charge.
The leading Lawyer for the accused person Lawyer Africanus S.Sesay made an application for bail for his client pursuant to section 79 sub-sections 2 and 3 of the Criminal Procedure Act of 1965 but the Magistrate denied the accused bail.
The State Prosecutor is inspector I.S. Mansaray while Lawyers Africanus S.Sesay and B. Fofanah are representing the accused person. The matter has been adjourned to the 12th July, 2021.
