The recent hike in the price of fuel led to the increase of transportation by five thousand Leones (LE5000) for vehicles plying the provinces but it has come out clear that officials running the New London Park in Bo, are doing it their own way by increasing it to LE 10,000.

A passenger from Bo city, known as Massah informed this medium that she added the sum of LE 10,000 referred to as “one bod” in the local parlance to the transport fare she used to pay coming to Freetown.

According to the President of the Drivers Union, Alpha Amadu Bah, the act is unfortunate claiming that the park is the only one not complying with the official price norm.

He said officially motivated measures are meant to be adhered to and strictly followed by members of the union. He said those perpetuating the act and cheating passengers are not bonafied members of the Drivers Union.

He expressed his appreciation of the work of Nacoverc but called on them to meet the drivers in the parks for their jabs.

He noted that more than 18,000 drivers have been vaccinated in the Western Area due to the action of Nacoverc reaching the parks.

Meanwhile, no driver has died due to contracting Covid-19 compared to Ebola which took the lives of over thirty drivers.
