A 26-year-old driver, Victor Mohamed Kamara, has been granted bail after making another appearance before Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah of Pademba Road Court No. 1 in Freetown on two criminal charges.

Kamara is charged with larceny, contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916, and obtaining goods by false pretences, contrary to Section 32(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.

According to the particulars of the offence, the accused, on diverse dates between 1 January and 31 December 2023 at Femi Turner, Goderich, in the Western Area of Freetown, allegedly stole by trick a Mercedes-Benz truck bearing registration number AMX 133, valued at Le350,000, the property of Senessie Kallon.

The second count alleges that, on diverse dates between 1 January and 31 December 2023, at the same location, Kamara, with intent to defraud, obtained the same Mercedes-Benz truck from Senessie Kallon by falsely claiming that he would exchange it for a three-town-lot parcel of land situated at Deep Eye Water, Freetown, knowing the representation to be false.

When the charges were read and explained to the accused, no plea was taken because the matter is before the court by way of preliminary investigation (committal proceedings).

During the proceedings, the prosecutor, Inspector Kadie M. Taylor, informed the court that the defendant had been served with copies of the case and inquiry file, and that he acknowledged receipt of the documents.

Magistrate Jah subsequently granted the accused bail and adjourned the matter to 20 July 2026 for further proceedings.
