Sierra Leone’s Vice President, Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, on Sunday inspected the newly completed President Julius Maada Bio International Conference Centre in Lungi ahead of the country’s hosting of the ECOWAS Summit of Heads of State and Government on 19 July 2026.

Accompanied by senior government officials, the Vice President toured the state-of-the-art facility with the project team to assess its readiness for the high-level regional summit. The inspection covered key sections of the Centre, including the main plenary hall, media centre, bilateral meeting rooms, VVIP lounges, exhibition spaces, and other supporting facilities.

Speaking after the inspection, Vice President Juldeh Jalloh described the Conference Centre as more than just a physical structure, saying it symbolizes Sierra Leone’s commitment to strengthening its role in regional diplomacy and its capacity to host major international events. He noted that the facility will also create new opportunities for tourism, hospitality, trade, and investment.

The Vice President commended the contractors, consultants, engineers, and workers whose dedication and expertise ensured the successful completion of the landmark project. He praised their commitment to delivering a modern facility that reflects Sierra Leone’s growing ability to host regional and global conferences.

The President Julius Maada Bio International Conference Centre is scheduled to be officially commissioned on 18 July 2026, one day before the ECOWAS Summit. Once inaugurated, the facility is expected to serve as a lasting national asset, promoting regional cooperation while positioning Sierra Leone as a preferred destination for international conferences, diplomatic engagements, and other high-profile events.
