NRA Senior Management Retreat Ends with Renewed Commitment

The National Revenue Authority (NRA) has concluded its four-day Senior Management Retreat, held from July 8 to 11, 2026, at the Atlantic Lumley Beach Hotel in Freetown under the theme: “Institutionalizing a Culture of Accountability for Sustained High Performance: One Team, One Vision.”

The retreat brought together the Authority’s senior leadership to review institutional progress, evaluate strategic priorities, assess ongoing reforms, and strengthen the leadership, accountability, and collaboration needed to sustain revenue growth and improve organizational performance.

Delivering the opening remarks, Commissioner General Mrs. Jeneba J. Bangura expressed appreciation to the NRA Board of Directors for its continued guidance and support. She also commended the Senior Management Team for its dedication, resilience, and commitment to advancing the Authority’s mandate despite the challenges associated with domestic revenue mobilization.

Mrs. Bangura acknowledged the significant progress the Authority has made in recent years and expressed confidence that, through sustained teamwork, innovation, and effective leadership, the NRA is well positioned to achieve and potentially surpass its 2027 revenue target. She emphasized that accountability at every level of the institution remains critical to improving tax administration, increasing compliance, and delivering quality public service.

Speaking on behalf of the Board of Directors, *Ms. Memunatu B. Rogers* praised the management team for its unwavering commitment to strengthening revenue performance and driving institutional reforms. She reaffirmed the Board’s continued support for the Authority’s transformation agenda, stressing the importance of good governance, transparency, and accountability in achieving long-term organizational success.

Also addressing participants, Deputy Commissioner General II, Mr. Gerald H.P. Ganda, encouraged senior managers to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, diligence, accountability, and efficient service delivery. He noted that these values are essential for enhancing public confidence, improving tax compliance, and ensuring sustainable domestic revenue mobilization.

Throughout the retreat, participants engaged in strategic discussions on the implementation of the Authority’s Strategic Plan, institutional reforms, organizational restructuring, change management methodologies, and key strategic projects. The sessions also focused on strengthening leadership capacity, fostering a high-performance organizational culture, and promoting innovation and teamwork across the institution.

Participants further examined strategies for improving operational efficiency, enhancing interdepartmental collaboration, and aligning institutional priorities with Sierra Leone’s broader national development objectives. The retreat provided an opportunity for senior leadership to identify emerging challenges, share best practices, and develop practical solutions to improve service delivery and revenue collection.

The retreat concluded with a renewed commitment by the Senior Management Team to strengthen collaboration, accelerate institutional reforms, promote a culture of accountability, and enhance domestic revenue mobilization. The Authority reaffirmed that these efforts are central to supporting the Government of Sierra Leone’s fiscal sustainability agenda and financing national development priorities through improved tax administration and efficient revenue collection.
