The District Agriculture Officer (DAO) of Moyamba District, Simion Dabor Sam has assured Moyamba district of sufficient food come harvest season. He made this statement when talking to A-Z Newspaper.
He further said with funds he has received from the district council the ministry has established both ‘bolly’ and swamp farming in various chiefdoms in the district, adding that the youth farms in the district is another added opportunity for the success of the ministry.
He further said procurements are ongoing for the purchase of brand new tractors that will improve farming in the district, adding that he owes an obligation to Moyamba because he hails from the district and the chairman also he believe that they will team up to improve the district.
Mr Dabor further disclosed that he has established a very good relationship with farmers and added that he has put structures in place on how to work with partners that will add value towards agriculture in the district.
He expressed appreciation to the extension workers for their tireless efforts towards the ministry and thanked the minister of agriculture for introducing the policy shift as that will bring more improvement in the sector.
He added that the ministry is no longer working with agro dealers because they have introduced a department for that, he ended up by calling on all stakeholders in the district to support the ministry`s activities to provide sufficient food.
