FC Kallon are finally set to have a Women’s Premier League team after the club on Saturday 3rd July unveiled their four new players and home and away jerseys. The team is this set to apply to the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) to register the team.
FC Kallon is rated among the best domestic men’s football team and they are upping their game with the launch of the female soccer wing.
Mohamed Kallon, FC Kallon’s Executive-chairman, said: “We are pleased to announce that the club intends to establish its first ever professional women’s team and will soon submit an application to enter for the next SLFA Premier League season.
SLFA is expected to support this process and we believe that launching a team would give many more of the female players’ opportunity to showcase their talents, the Chairman noted.
“The FC Kallon women’s team must be built in the same image and with the same principles as the men’s first team and offer young players a clear route to top-level football within the club,” he disclosed.
He added\: “We have taken the lead now and we want to give opportunity to young players at the ages of 14, 15 and 16 years to do likewise” He revealed.
Asked whether the name of Mamoud FC the country`s top female team has been changed because the CEO of Mamoud FC is part of the FC Kallon Fans` club executive, Kallon replied; “FC Kallon female side is different from Mamoud FC; he stressed.
He said because of the huge percentage of female supporters supporting FC Kallon that prompted the executive to establish a female team in the country.
“We have now an established club in the country because we can boast of two pitches in our venue at Angola Town, a standard club bus, a Secretariat and now a female team that tells you we are moving to an international standard.”
He however called on FC Kallon supporters to rally behind the new female side.
According to Amidu Bah the Team Manager of FC Kallon “getting a female team means a lot not just for the club for the sporting body, the country and to a larger extent for the entire female football sector in the country.”
He added that it is a dream come true in actualizing the Bamoi Declaration that demanded all clubs to set up U-14-U-15 female and senior female teams.
He further disclosed:“we always set the pace and the Standard to satisfy our fans demands as they have always being around the male team now it’s time as a club we give them a female team. We have a huge fan base with most are women with getting a female side with definitely help they club to get that kind of supports, currently as a club we have gotten our first set of players that we will use in the upcoming Sierra Leone Female Premier League in the Country but we are still looking to get more players, because we want to get a good female team in the Country”
The Team manager affirmed that as club they have purchased a team bus that will be strictly for the players and not operated as a commercial vehicle, noting that with all the structures they want to see the club becoming the top notch in the country..
