Sierra Leone’s Chief Medical Pathologist, Dr. Simeon Owizz Koroma, on Saturday, June 6, 2026, conducted an autopsy examination on the exhumed remains of late Police Constable 23166, Solomon Koroma, who was formerly attached to the Sierra Leone Police in Motema Jaiama Nimikoro, Kono District on June 6, 2026.
The deceased officer’s decomposed remains were discovered in his bedroom in Jaiama Nimikoro on Thursday, March 26, 2026. Preliminary police investigations indicated that he may have died on Monday, March 23, 2026, shortly after returning from a special duty assignment within the division.
Due to uncertainty surrounding the circumstances and cause of his death, authorities ordered an autopsy examination. The procedure was conducted in Jaiama Nimikoro, where the late officer had previously been laid to rest.
The autopsy formed part of ongoing efforts to establish the exact cause of death and support the broader police investigation.
Among those present during the examination were the Crime Officer of Motema Divisional Headquarters, CSP Mohamed A. Turay; Operations Officer SI Mohamed Kakamoi; the Media and Community Relations Officer, Thompson Peter Ndapi; Senior Section Chief Sahr Foday; Town Chief Aiah Domba; and the Deputy Section Chief. Numerous community members also witnessed the process, demonstrating their respect for the late officer and their interest in the investigation.
Police officials stated that the findings of the autopsy are expected to assist investigators in determining the precise cause of death and provide clarity for both the bereaved family and the police institution.
Following the examination, the remains of the late Police Constable Solomon Koroma were reburied in a peaceful and dignified ceremony attended by family members, community leaders, and residents.
Authorities have indicated that the results of the autopsy will be released upon completion of the forensic analysis and investigation.
