Police at the Bo East Family Support Unit (FSU) have investigated and charged to court a 28‑year‑old man on allegations of sexually penetrating an eight‑year‑old girl in Nyandehun Village, Kakua Chiefdom, Bo District.
The suspect, reportedly a midwifery student, remains in custody and is expected to appear before a High Court judge in Bo.
According to Inspector Rashid Kanneh, Line Manager of the Bo East FSU, the matter has been under close police investigation for several weeks to ensure sufficient evidence is gathered for court proceedings. Inspector Kanneh confirmed that the case file was reviewed by the Principal State Counsel, who directed that the matter be charged to court.
Since the law mandates that sexual abuse and penetration cases be prosecuted in the High Court, police say they are fully prepared to provide supporting evidence against the alleged perpetrator.
Meanwhile, the eight‑year‑old victim is currently receiving critical medical attention in Freetown.
