As global leaders gather in the Swiss city of Geneva for the 79th World Health Assembly (WHA79), Sierra Leone has used the international platform to showcase progress in its healthcare sector.
Minister of Health, Dr. Austin Demby, addressed delegates and global health leaders earlier today, highlighting Sierra Leone’s ongoing healthcare transformation as a major achievement under President Julius Maada Bio’s Human Capital Development Agenda.
The address took place on the sidelines of WHA79, where health ministers, policymakers, and international stakeholders are meeting to discuss national and global health priorities. The annual assembly serves as a key platform for reviewing health sector developments and sharing strategies aimed at strengthening healthcare systems worldwide.
During his presentation, Minister Demby focused on the reforms and improvements currently taking place within Sierra Leone’s health sector. He emphasized that these achievements are closely aligned with the government’s broader Human Capital Development Agenda, which prioritizes investment in the health, education, and wellbeing of the population.
By presenting at the assembly, Sierra Leone brought its healthcare reforms to the attention of an international audience of policymakers and health officials, demonstrating the country’s commitment to improving healthcare delivery and strengthening public health systems.
The country’s participation at WHA79 also provided an opportunity to share its experiences, outline ongoing initiatives, and highlight achievements in advancing healthcare transformation in Sierra Leone.
