Alicia Robinson-Morgan, Acting Deputy Vice President for Africa at the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), who is currently on a week-long official visit to Sierra Leone, on Tuesday, 19th May 2026, paid a courtesy call on the Acting Minister of Finance, Madam Kadiatu Allie, at her George Street office in Freetown.
Her visit, which runs from May 18 to May 22, 2026, comes as the MCC Sierra Leone Compact enters its critical pre-implementation phase. In her role overseeing MCC’s multi-country Africa portfolio within the Department of Compact Operations, Robinson-Morgan’s visit marks a significant step forward in the landmark partnership between MCC and Sierra Leone.
During the meeting, the Acting Deputy Vice President and the Acting Minister of Finance discussed key issues relating to the pre-implementation phase of the MCC Compact.
Robinson-Morgan acknowledged the progress made so far, particularly in the areas of procurement and recruitment processes, as well as the clarity surrounding the country’s financial contribution to the Compact.
The Acting Minister of Finance, Kadiatu Allie, welcomed the MCC Deputy Vice President to Sierra Leone, expressed satisfaction with the progress achieved to date, and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fulfilling its obligations under the Compact agreement.
Also present at the meeting were Financial Secretary Matthew Dingie, MCC Resident Country Director Steven Gruda, Chief Executive Officer of MCA-Sierra Leone Nyade Sesay, and officials from the Ministry of Finance, including the Director of the Fiscal Risk Division. Discussions focused on critical issues such as taxation, reforms in the energy sector, government contributions, and other related matters aimed at ensuring that the Compact implementation process begins in 2027.
