Painter Remanded Over Alleged Paint Theft

Twenty-six-year-old Sheku Koroma, a painter, made his first appearance before Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah at Pademba Road Court No. 1 on a charge of larceny contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.

According to the particulars of offence, the defendant, on Tuesday, 14 April 2026, at Hill Cut Road in the Western Area, allegedly stole 15 gallons of paint, four gallons of buttermilk paint, and other assorted paint materials, all valued at thirty-eight thousand and eighty-three Leones (Le 38,083), property of Soina Success Dumbuya.

When the charge was read and explained to the defendant, he pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Inspector Kadie M. Taylor, informed the court that the defendant had been served with a copy of his statement.

Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah refused bail on the grounds of the seriousness of the offence.

The matter was adjourned to 14 May 2026 for further hearing.
