Julius Maada Bio on Friday broke ground for a modern office complex for the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) in Kenema, describing the project as a new chapter in the party’s commitment to national development and unity.
The ceremony marked a significant investment in the party’s infrastructure as the ruling SLPP seeks to strengthen its grassroots presence in the Eastern Region. President Bio said the party has remained a leading force in driving Sierra Leone toward transformative and sustainable development.
Hundreds of party members, local leaders, and residents gathered at the project site to witness the groundbreaking ceremony. The new office is expected to serve as a centre for party activities, policy engagement, and community outreach in Kenema District.
President Bio commended the party’s executive members and supporters for their continued dedication to advancing the SLPP’s vision and agenda.
“I sincerely thank the dedicated executive and members of our party, whose unwavering commitment and determination continue to inspire our success,” he told the gathering.
The groundbreaking ceremony comes as the SLPP continues to position itself as a vehicle for national unity, development, and democratic governance. Party officials said the modern facility would improve coordination and strengthen engagement with supporters across the region.
Chants of “One Country, One People” echoed throughout the event as President Bio turned the sod on the project. The slogan, a long-standing rallying call of the SLPP, reinforced the party’s message of unity and inclusiveness.
Although construction timelines and project costs were not immediately disclosed, party executives indicated that the office complex would include meeting halls, administrative offices, and digital facilities designed to support modern political organisation and communication.
The Kenema project is the latest in a series of infrastructural initiatives undertaken by the SLPP to consolidate its presence nationwide. President Bio described the development as another important step toward building a stronger and more united Sierra Leone.
