Two individuals, 32-year-old trader Memunatu Kamara Lebbie and 45-year-old mason Joseph Lavalie, have made their first appearance before Magistrate John Manso Fornah at the Pademba Road Court No. 2 on two counts of conspiracy to commit a crime and larceny, contrary to Section 2 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861.

According to the particulars of offence, on Monday, 6 April 2025, at Calaba Town in the Western Area of Freetown, the accused allegedly conspired together and with other persons unknown to commit the offence of larceny.

Count two further stated that on the same date and at the same location, the defendants allegedly stole one solar system valued at Le 102,000, property of Maner Shabon.

When the charges were read and explained to the accused, they pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Deputy Superintendent of Police Sorie Conteh, informed the court that he had served both defendants with a bundle of witness statements and applied for a subpoena to be issued for an absent prosecution witness.

However, Magistrate Fornah refused bail, citing the seriousness of the offence, and ordered that both defendants be remanded at the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown.

The matter was adjourned to 7 May 2026 for further hearing.
