Wilberforce Strikers secured a vital 2 -1 victory over Bullom Stars on Wednesday, April 29, at the Approved School Field, deepening the struggles of the “Pilot Boys” in Matchweek 24 of the Leone Rock Premier League.
Both teams entered the match seeking a turnaround. Wilberforce Strikers came off a 0-0 draw with East End Lions, while Bullom Stars were still recovering from a 2-1 defeat to Ports Authority.
The first half was tightly contested, with both sides creating chances but failing to convert, ending 0–0 at halftime.
Wilberforce broke the deadlock in the 65th minute when Lansana Kamara delivered a well-timed pass to Osman Kargbo, who calmly finished to make it 1–0.
Bullom Stars responded late, equalizing in the 85th minute through substitute Mohamed Manga Sesay, who reignited hopes of ending their winless run.
However, Wilberforce Strikers struck again almost immediately. In the 89th minute, Randy M. George scored the winner his 11th goal of the season making him joint top scorer in the league and sealing all three points.
The defeat extends Bullom Stars’ poor run to eight matches without a win, including seven consecutive losses. They remain 18th on 23 points and firmly in the relegation zone.
Wilberforce Strikers move up to 10th place with 31 points from 25 matches, easing their relegation concerns.
Upcoming fixtures: Wilberforce Strikers will face Bhantal FC on May 9 at the SLFA Academy Field. Bullom Stars will host Luawa FC on May 6 at the Approved School Field.
