The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has officially set June 27, 2026, as the date for its Ordinary Congress, which will take place in Bo City. The announcement, delivered at Wizard Hall, serves as a formal notification issued in strict compliance with Article 26 (1) and (2) of the SLFA 2019 Statutes.

The notice underscores the association’s adherence to constitutional provisions that guide the organization and conduct of its most important decision-making gathering. Article 26 (1) of the SLFA Statutes provides that the Ordinary Congress shall be held annually, making it a mandatory institutional exercise where the association accounts for its stewardship and charts the way forward for football development. This provision ensures continuity, transparency, and democratic engagement within the football family.

Furthermore, Article 26 (2) stipulates that the Executive Committee must formally notify members of the date and venue of the Congress within a defined period ahead of the meeting. This requirement guarantees that all stakeholders are adequately informed and given sufficient time to prepare, submit motions, and actively participate in deliberations that shape the future of the game.

By announcing the Congress well ahead of time, the SLFA leadership under President Babadi Kamara has demonstrated compliance with these statutory obligations, reinforcing its commitment to good governance, accountability, and respect for established regulations.

The Ordinary Congress remains the supreme legislative body of the SLFA, vested with the authority to make binding decisions on key aspects of football administration in Sierra Leone. During the Congress, delegates will have the opportunity to review reports from the Executive Committee, examine financial statements, discuss policy matters, and adopt strategic resolutions aimed at strengthening the sport nationwide.

It is also expected that issues relating to grassroots football development, league organization, refereeing standards, and institutional reforms will feature prominently on the agenda, reflecting the growing demand for professionalism and progress within the game.

The choice of Bo City as the host venue further highlights the SLFA’s ongoing efforts to decentralize football administration and ensure national inclusion, bringing major football activities closer to stakeholders outside the capital, Freetown.

As preparations intensify, the SLFA has called on all its members, affiliates, and stakeholders to continue demonstrating unity, cooperation, and active engagement. Their participation, the association noted, will be crucial in ensuring that the Congress is not only successful but also compliant with the statutes and reflective of the collective aspirations of Sierra Leone football.

The June 27 gathering is therefore expected to stand as a significant moment in the football calendar one that will shape policy direction, strengthen governance structures, and reaffirm the SLFA’s commitment to transparency and inclusive leadership.
