Osman Daramy, a former camera operator at the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation, has been granted bail following his initial appearance before Magistrate John Manso Fornah at Pademba Road Court No. 2 in Freetown.

Mr. Daramy faces serious charges, including conspiracy to commit a felony and multiple counts of office breaking and larceny, arising from an alleged break-in at the SLBC premises.

According to court records, between January 5 and 6, 2026, Mr. Daramy allegedly conspired with unknown individuals to unlawfully enter the SLBC office in New England Ville, Freetown, with the intent to commit office breaking and larceny.

Count two and three of the charges state that on the same dates and location, the defendant, with intent to steal, broke into the waiting room and engineering office, stealing 43 Sharp plasma televisions valued at six thousand Leones (₦6,000) and one Samsung A-56 Android mobile phone valued at five thousand Leones (₦5,000), property of the SLBC and Vandi Massaquio.

Count four alleges that the defendant broke into the engineering office and stole two thousand Leones (₦2,000) in cash, belonging to the SLBC.

When the charges were read and explained, no plea was taken from the defendant.

In his ruling, Magistrate Fornah stated that he had reviewed all evidence presented by the prosecution, including exhibits, the caution statement, and the charge statement of the defendant. He concluded that the prosecution had presented sufficient evidence linking Mr. Daramy to the offences and therefore committed the matter to the High Court for trial.

The Magistrate further ruled that, pursuant to Section 116(1) of the Criminal Procedure Act of 2024, the defendant’s existing bail conditions would remain in effect.
