The Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Dr. Henry Musa Kpaka, has paid a courtesy visit to the Livestock and Livelihoods Development Project (LLDP), calling on its leadership to align project activities with national development priorities.

The visit, part of the Minister’s weekend field tour, brought together members of his delegation and LLDP staff to review progress and discuss the project’s strategic direction.

During the engagement, Dr. Kpaka emphasized the importance of clearly defined roles within the project. He stressed that all interventions must align with the government’s Feed Salone Agenda to ensure meaningful and sustainable impact.

The Minister disclosed that earlier in 2026, he commissioned a fully automated egg production facility in Freetown with a capacity of 20,000 eggs per day. He added that the initiative also includes 22,000 birds at Newton and the deployment of 40 tractors to support the cultivation of animal feed.

He further announced plans to commission an additional facility with a production capacity of 35,000 eggs per day in the coming weeks, noting that such investments are essential for boosting local food production.

Dr. Kpaka also highlighted the importance of mentorship and capacity building within the livestock sector, particularly given the involvement of young professionals in the project. He noted that sustained knowledge transfer is key to building a legacy.

In response, LLDP Project Manager Tejan Koroma assured the Minister of the team’s commitment to maintaining progress across all components of the project. He revealed that ongoing consultations and strengthened partnerships are aimed at accelerating implementation and improving efficiency.

Mr. Koroma further stated that the project is enhancing its office branding to better reflect its identity and alignment with the Ministry’s strategic objectives.
