The President of the Sierra Leone Squash Association, Baseem Mohammed, has been elected Vice President for the West and Central Region of the Squash Federation of Africa (SFA).
He was elected on Tuesday, 17 March 2026, after winning 72 percent of the votes, securing 13 out of 18 ballots cast. His opponent, Sunday Wilson Egberipou, received five votes.
Baseem takes over the position following a vacancy created after the death of Ahmed Adamu Erena in November 2025.
The election was conducted by the SFA Ethics and Disciplinary Committee and verified by its Finance and Audit Committee, with officials describing the process as transparent and credible.
Aside from his role in sports, Baseem is a businessman and owner of Sierra Fishing Company.
He has also played a key role in developing squash in Sierra Leone by supporting players, coaches, and the association. His election is expected to strengthen Sierra Leone’s representation in African sports administration.
