Forty-one-year-old public servant Mohamed Turay appeared before Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah at Pademba Road Court No. 1 on a charge of wrong communication of a document, contrary to Section 7(1)(a) of the Treason and State Offenses Act 1963, as amended.
According to the particulars of the offense, on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, in the Western Area of Freetown, the defendant, while in possession of a Finance concurrence for the Attorney General and Minister of Justice’s trip to the United States to participate in the 2025 United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), allegedly communicated the financial request incorrectly to Abdul Kalokoh.
When the charge was read and explained to the defendant, he did not enter a plea.
Prosecutor Yusuf Isaac Sesay informed the court that the defendant had been served with the bundle of his statements, which the defendant admitted receiving. He was not legally represented at the hearing.
Magistrate Jah adjourned the matter to April 2, 2026, and the defendant was placed on self-bail.
