The remains of two-year-old Messie Bangura, who was allegedly assaulted and killed, were finally laid to rest at the Koidu Samadu Cemetery on Thursday, 12th March 2026, following a well-attended funeral service at the Temene Mosque in Koidu City.
During the ceremony, members of the Koidu community including women, men, and children gathered to pay their last respects. Many carried placards inscribed with messages such as “Rest in Peace, We Need Justice for Messie Bangura.”
It can be recalled that the tragic incident occurred on Wednesday, 4th March 2026, at Sandor Street in Koidu City, Kono District.
Chief Augustine Lebbie, the area chief of Sandor Street, told this medium that the alleged perpetrator, Amos Aiah Daniel, had previously committed a similar crime against an eight-year-old girl in a nearby village in Sandor Chiefdom. He described the act as a manifestation of sheer wickedness, emphasizing that the incident was not driven by ritualistic motives but by cruelty.
The alleged perpetrator, Amos Aiah Daniel, and his mother, Theresa Konomanyi, are currently being held at the Sefadu Correctional Centre in Koidu City, awaiting court proceedings.
