A 40-year-old Sierra Leonean travel consultant based in the United Arab Emirates, Lamin Dabor, has been remanded at the Male Correctional Centre on Pademba Road by Magistrate John Manso Fornah of Pademba Road Magistrate Court No. 2 in Freetown.

The accused appeared before the court on a nine-count charge, including one count of conspiracy and eight counts of obtaining money by false pretences, contrary to Section 32(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.

According to the particulars of offence, the accused allegedly conspired with other persons unknown on various dates between 14th May 2024 and 17th September 2025 at No. 19 Falcon Street in the Western Area of Freetown to commit a crime, namely obtaining money by false pretences.

The prosecution further alleged that on 14th May 2024, the accused, with intent to defraud, obtained the sum of Le 3,000 from Isha Titi Kamara by falsely pretending that he would facilitate her travel to Canada, knowing the claim to be false.

On the same date, the accused allegedly obtained an additional Le 2,000 from the same complainant under the same pretext.

The charge sheet further stated that on 8th July 2024, the accused allegedly obtained Le 19,000 from the complainant by claiming he would arrange her travel to Canada.

On 14th July 2024, he allegedly obtained Le 1,000 from the complainant under similar false pretences.

Prosecutors also alleged that on 19th July 2025, the accused obtained Le 700 from the complainant, again claiming he would facilitate her travel to Canada.

Further charges indicate that on 16th September 2025, the accused allegedly obtained Le 398, and on 17th September 2025, he obtained Le 8,000 from the complainant under the same false representation.

The final count states that on the same date, 17th September 2025, the accused allegedly obtained an additional Le 5,507 from Isha Titi Kamara by falsely claiming he would facilitate her travel to Canada.

When the charges were read and explained to the accused in court, no plea was taken.

Magistrate Fornah refused bail and ordered that the accused be remanded at the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown. The matter was adjourned to 18th March 2026 for further hearing.

The case is being prosecuted by Sergeant 8811 Florence M. Wilson.
