The beneficiary facilities include Lunsar Community Health Centre, Magbil Community Health Centre, and St. John of God Catholic Hospital.

The donated items include ICU beds and mattresses, birthing beds, wheelchairs, crutches, gloves, cribs, surgical instruments, patient supplies, blood pressure machines, adult walkers, and other essential medical equipment.

Speaking during the donation ceremony, the Managing Director of Marampa Mines Limited, Angula Kalili, emphasized that the company’s responsibility extends beyond the extraction of natural resources to investing in the wellbeing and development of the communities where it operates.

He noted that healthcare remains a critical factor in sustainable community development, stressing that strong health systems are essential for building thriving and productive communities.

Kalili reaffirmed MML’s commitment to supporting public services in both Marampa and Maforki Chiefdoms. “Through our engagement with community leaders, local authorities, and health professionals, we understand that many health facilities continue to face challenges related to the availability of essential medical supplies and equipment,” he stated.

He further recalled that, in collaboration with the United States Embassy in Freetown, MML partnered with Project C.U.R.E, an American non-governmental organization and one of the world’s largest distributors of donated medical supplies to developing countries.

According to him, through this partnership, Project C.U.R.E selected three healthcare facilities in Marampa and Maforki Chiefdoms Lunsar Community Health Centre, St. John of God Catholic Hospital, and Magbil Community Health Centre to benefit from the donation.

Kalili explained that the initiative is intended to strengthen the capacity of these facilities, improve healthcare delivery, enhance patient outcomes, and increase preparedness to meet the health needs of the communities they serve.

He urged the heads of the beneficiary facilities to ensure that the donated equipment and supplies are used appropriately and for their intended purposes. He also commended healthcare workers for their dedication and continued service.

The Minister of Health, Dr. Austin Demby, commended Marampa Mines Limited for its continued support through its Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives aimed at improving affordable, accessible, and high-quality healthcare services in Sierra Leone.

Dr. Demby encouraged healthcare workers to use the donated equipment responsibly to ensure patient safety and better healthcare outcomes.

He described the work of health professionals as one of sacrifice and lifesaving service. “All of the gains the Ministry has achieved come from the hard work and dedication of healthcare workers,” he said.

The Minister also warned that any form of negligence or actions that undermine healthcare delivery will be dealt with severely.

Meanwhile, the Paramount Chief of Marampa Chiefdom, Bai Koblo Queen II, expressed deep appreciation to Marampa Mines Limited for supporting healthcare services in the chiefdom, especially at a time when the people need it most.

He noted that the medical supplies will significantly strengthen the health sector in the chiefdom and improve the wellbeing of the people.
