The National Sports Authority (NSA) has concluded a two-day strategic management retreat, focusing on job creation, prioritization of ten sports for funding to organize domestic competitions, and infrastructural development for 2026.

NSA Executive Director, Dr. Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai Esq., emphasized the role of sports as a catalyst for national development, youth empowerment, and social cohesion, aligning with President Julius Maada Bio’s agenda on youth employment.

“Sports, when funded and well-governed, can drive employment, healthier communities, and safer streets. They help build character, leadership, and opportunities for young people, offering alternatives to unemployment and substance abuse,” Dr. Abdulai stated.

On sports infrastructure, the NSA Chief highlighted its importance in providing safe and accessible environments for sporting activities. “We are installing artificial turf in Kailahun and plan to move to Tihun. The NSA has also identified districts in the Northern region to benefit. Our goal is to develop facilities in every region, supporting multiple sports and ensuring access for all communities,” he said.

At the conclusion of the retreat, NSA directors and management staff renewed their commitment to implementing the strategies discussed, particularly in the areas of youth employment, sports funding, and infrastructure development.
