Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah of Pademba Road Court No. 1 in Freetown has committed murder suspect Abass Kargbo to the High Court of Sierra Leone for trial and ordered that he be remanded at the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown.

The ruling followed Kargbo’s appearance on a single count of murder, contrary to Section 1 of the Offences Against the Person Act, 1861, as amended by Section 1(a) of the Abolition of the Death Penalty Act, 2021 (Act No. 6 of 2022).

According to the charge, on Tuesday, 11 November 2025, at Timbo Lane, Bah Drive off the Main Peninsula Highway in Freetown, Kargbo allegedly unlawfully murdered Abu Bakarr Fullah.

Because the offence is indictable and beyond the jurisdiction of the Magistrate Court, no plea was taken.

In his ruling, Magistrate Jah stated that the prosecution had established a prima facie case, sufficient to warrant committal to the High Court. He therefore ordered that the matter be sent to the High Court for trial and that Kargbo remain in lawful custody pending his appearance before that court.

The case has been adjourned for further proceedings at the High Court.
