The former Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament and distinguished Member of Parliament for Pujehun District, Rt. Hon. Dr. Sidie Mohamed Tunis, has embarked on a series of high-impact initiatives aimed at strengthening party structures and empowering young people across Sierra Leone.
In Zimmi, Pujehun District, Hon. Tunis officially turned the sod for the construction of a modern SLPP Constituency Office, describing the project as one close to his heart and vital to enhancing grassroots political organization. He noted that the facility will serve as a coordination centre to promote unity, efficiency, and sustained political engagement within the district.
To further consolidate party development, Hon. Tunis announced an additional pledge of USD 20,000 to the SLPP Pujehun District Party Office, bringing his total contribution to USD 52,000, following an earlier donation of USD 32,000. He emphasized that these investments are intended to strengthen the party, foster unity, and drive lasting progress throughout Pujehun District.
Beyond party affairs, Hon. Tunis continues to demonstrate a strong commitment to education and youth empowerment. As Keynote Speaker at the Inaugural Ceremony of the President and Cabinet of the Students’ Union Government (SUG) at Njala University, Mokondeh, he challenged the new student leadership to serve with integrity, diligence, and a clear focus on the interests of students and the institution.
During the engagement, Hon. Tunis received development proposals from the SUG and other student groups and immediately sponsored several student-led projects aimed at improving learning conditions and campus life. He also expressed his willingness to work closely with the university administration and student leadership to advance meaningful student development initiatives.
In a further demonstration of support, Hon. Tunis paid USD 10,000 in tuition fees for deserving students at Njala University, underscoring his belief that investment in education is fundamental to national development.
“Investing in our youth is investing in our future. This is how we build human capital and empower the next generation of leaders,” he stated, declaring 2026 as a “Year of Action.”
Overall, Rt. Hon. Dr. Sidie Mohamed Tunis has donated and pledged a total of USD 40,000 to Njala University, Mokondeh, reinforcing his long-standing advocacy for education, youth empowerment, and sustainable development in Sierra Leone.
