Mohamed Moriba, a politician, former military officer, and Southern Region Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the All People’s Congress (APC), has been remanded in custody following his first appearance before Magistrate John Manso Fornah at Pademba Road Court No. 2 in Freetown on a charge of incitement contrary to law.
According to the particulars of offence, the accused is alleged to have, on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at Kamalo Village in the Karina Judicial District, North-East Province of the Republic of Sierra Leone, created and circulated audio and video recordings containing inciting content intended to cause mayhem, disorder, chaos, and unrest in the country. The alleged recordings were later posted on the Salone Gossip Hub TikTok account.
When the charge was read and explained to the accused, no plea was taken.
The prosecution informed the court that it had served the defence with copies of its file. The defence confirmed receipt and applied for a short adjournment to study the documents.
Lead defence counsel, M. A. Kamara Esq., also applied for bail on behalf of the accused, stating that his client is a peaceful citizen of Sierra Leone with reliable sureties who are willing to enter recognizance if bail is granted. Counsel assured the court that the accused would not interfere with prosecution witnesses, would not abscond, and would appear in court on all adjourned dates. The application was made pursuant to Section 76(1) of the Criminal Procedure Act, 2024.
After hearing the bail application and reviewing the affidavit in opposition filed by the prosecution, Magistrate John Manso Fornah refused bail. The accused was accordingly remanded in custody, and the matter was adjourned to January 28, 2026.
