Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, who also serves as Deputy Leader of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), has engaged party members and delegates in Kenema District, reaffirming his commitment to strengthening party unity and advancing the development interests of the Eastern Province.
Speaking at the SLPP party office in Kenema, Dr. Juldeh Jalloh reflected on his long-standing association with the party and his leadership role under President Julius Maada Bio. He recalled his early commitment to supporting the upgrade of the Kenema Polytechnic to full university status, describing it as a key contribution to education and human capital development in the region.
“We are a party of national unity,” the Vice President stated, urging party members and emerging leaders to remain “united, motivated, and development-oriented” as they consolidate the gains of President Bio’s legacy of national reconciliation and progress.
Addressing party supporters and about 320 delegates drawn from across the country, Dr. Juldeh Jalloh acknowledged the disputes and misunderstandings that arose during the party’s lower-level elections. He described such disagreements as a normal part of political competition and democratic processes.
“We must recognise that disagreements are inevitable in the struggle for leadership,” he said. “Power is not given like a piece of bread; it is fought for and taken. However, after the contest, peace and cohesion must be restored.”
The Vice President emphasised the importance of unity and reconciliation within the party, noting that internal peace is essential for achieving broader electoral success.
Describing Kenema as “the centre of gravity of the SLPP,” Dr. Juldeh Jalloh assured party members in the district of the continued respect, recognition, and support of the national leadership as the party works towards deeper unity and sustained political success.
