Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh has hailed the signing of a landmark $129 million health agreement between the Government of Sierra Leone and the United States, describing it as a major step toward strengthening the nation’s healthcare system on Monday 22nd December 2025.

The agreement, signed at the Youyi Building in Freetown, will channel resources over the next five years to expand health infrastructure, combat infectious diseases, and consolidate progress in reducing child and maternal mortality.

“In my role as Chair for both health sector coordination and decentralization, I am actively supporting the Government’s initiatives to enhance health spending and strengthen primary health care infrastructure, aligning with the objectives of Sierra Leone’s recently endorsed health compact,” Dr. Jalloh stated.

He emphasized that the U.S. support is crucial for improving services for women, children, and adolescents, while also reflecting the broader partnership between the two nations. This collaboration extends beyond health, with ongoing cooperation in energy through the $480 million MCC-funded compact.

The Vice President expressed gratitude to the United States Embassy in Freetown and Minister of Health Dr. Austin Demby for their role in facilitating the agreement.
