The newly elected Chairman of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), Mr. Jimmy Batilo Songa, has reassured party members, supporters, and grassroots activists of his unwavering commitment to serve the party, with special emphasis on the grassroots, who he described as the backbone of the SLPP.
Chairman Songa made this assurance during the SLPP Inaugural Dinner and Victory Dance, held at the Freetown International Conference Centre, Bintumani Hotel, in Aberdeen, Freetown. The colorful event brought together party stalwarts, executives, and grassroots supporters from across the country to celebrate the party’s unity and recent leadership transition.
Addressing the gathering, Chairman Songa described grassroots members as the “lifeblood of the SLPP,” noting that their courage, hard work, and unwavering belief in the party have sustained it through challenging times. He emphasized that the party’s strength is reflected in its well-established structures across all regions, districts, and communities in Sierra Leone.
“The grassroots have remained a strong force in defending, promoting, and building the good name of our party, and your sacrifices and commitment have not gone unnoticed,” he said.
Chairman Songa expressed deep appreciation for the immense contributions made by grassroots members over the years, assuring them that their efforts are fully recognized by the party leadership. He pledged to maintain close ties with the grassroots and to always remain accessible.
“I will always remain the Batilo Songa you know, and I will always stand by you, listen to your concerns, and work with you at all times,” he affirmed.
He further disclosed that the activism and determination of grassroots supporters continue to inspire the SLPP leadership, stressing that the party will always remain grateful for their loyalty and dedication.
Reaffirming his vision for an inclusive and people-centered party, Chairman Songa assured members that the SLPP will continue to invest in grassroots development and guide them along the path of leadership and political engagement. He emphasized his open-door policy, encouraging party members to approach him freely with concerns and ideas.
“My door will always be open to you. I am always ready to receive you whenever you knock,” he assured.
