Twenty-five-year-old auto electrician Manso Kargbo and thirty-three-year-old businessman Daniel Conteh appeared before Magistrate John Manso Fornah at Pademba Road Court No. 2, Freetown, facing two charges: Fraudulent conversion, contrary to Section 20(1)(iv)(a) of the Larceny Act 1916. Receiving stolen goods, contrary to Section 33(1) of the Larceny Act 1916.
According to the particulars of the offense, between February and 23rd March 2023, at Riverside Drive, Red Pump, off King Harman Road, Brookfields, Western Area, Freetown, the defendants allegedly fraudulently converted property entrusted to them for repairs. This included: A black BMW 2013 series valued at $8,200 USD (₦196,800 Leones). A 2012 Acura MDX valued at $10,000 USD (₦240,000 Leones)
The total value of the property was ₦436,800 Leones, all belonging to Ibrahim Sayenu Siesay.
The second count further alleged that Daniel Conteh knowingly received the BMW vehicle, aware it had been stolen.
When the charges were read, the first defendant (Kargbo) did not enter a plea, while the second defendant (Conteh) pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Deputy Superintendent of Police Sorie Conteh, informed the court that witnesses were present to testify. Counsel A.K. Turay Esq renewed a bail application on behalf of the second defendant.
Magistrate Fornah granted bail to Daniel Conteh in the sum of ₦250,000 Leones with one surety of similar value. The surety must be a senior, responsible citizen residing in Freetown with a fixed address, gainfully employed with proof, and must produce a valid identification card. Bail must be approved by the Deputy Assistant Registrar.
The matter was adjourned to 5th December 2025.
