Six Accused Remanded Over Alleged Armed Robbery & Possession of Stolen Property

Six individuals including Foday Sallu, Martin Sallu, Joseph Gekamjie Kamara (alias Shine), John Bangalie (alias Boika), Gbessay Swaray (alias Success), and Alhassan Sesay appeared before Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah of Pademba Road Court No. 1, facing multiple charges related to robbery and possession of stolen property.

The accused are charged on six counts, including conspiracy to commit robbery with aggravation, robbery with aggravation, wounding, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and receiving stolen property.

According to court records, on Thursday, 28th August 2025, at NASSIT Quarters, Hancil Road, Bo Town, the first five accused allegedly conspired to commit robbery. Armed with guns and matches, they reportedly robbed John Malacheous Baimaigay Lamina of an iPhone 13 Pro Max, a Samsung A23, a Samsung Fold, a silver Apple wristwatch, and three other wristwatches, valued at Le 135,790. During the robbery, the accused allegedly inflicted bodily harm on the victim.

It is further alleged that on Friday, 29th August 2025, the sixth accused, Alhassan Sesay, received a ThinkPad Lenovo laptop and an iPhone 13 Pro Max, knowing they had been stolen.

Prosecution witness DPC 11692 Paul Jusu, attached to the Major Crime Unit, CID, testified that he recognized all accused persons and the complainant. He presented evidence including search warrants, medical reports, contemporaneous interviews, mobile phones, weapons, and other exhibits, which were tendered in court. Ballistic and cyber investigations were also conducted as part of the case.

The accused were formally charged between 16th and 17th September 2025. Statements, recorded in English after being given in Krio, were confirmed by each accused using their right-hand thumbprints. The sixth accused, Alhassan Sesay, was represented by Counsel A.B. Bangura, while the others appeared unrepresented. Notably, the fifth accused, Gbessay Swaray, is a condemned convict.

Magistrate Jah remanded all six accused and adjourned the matter to 1st December 2025. The case is being prosecuted by C.S.P Ziza.
