It was a remarkable weekend for cricket loving fans in Sierra Leone as one of the most anticipated leagues came to an end, thereby making team Dr. Cyril Williams the first winners of the Sierra Leone Men’s Elite Cricket Franchise League.
Sunday 13th June 2021 was a spectrum of spectacular moments at both the Kingtom Cricket Oval and the Prince of Wales School Cricket Ground. It was a final-day battle for supremacy between Team Alex Williams and Team Dr. Cyril Willams.
Team Dr. Cyril Williams emerged as the first winners of the Sierra Leone Men’s Elite Cricket Franchise League, as they put up an extraordinary score against Team Dr. Rodolph Dworzak – 270 runs losing 5 wickets – before Team Dr. Rodolph Dworzak were all out for just 54.
The best batting performers were George Edward Ngagba (Team Dr. Cyril Williams) with 120 runs not out from 80 deliveries, Arvind (Team Dr. Cyril Williams) with 46 runs from 38 deliveries, and John Lassayo (Team Dr. Cyril Williams) with 41 runs from 39 deliveries.
George Edward Ngagba became the first and only player in the league to have scored a century.
The best bowling performers were Suliaman Tarawallie (Team Dr. Cyril Williams) with 4 wickets in 4.3 overs, George Edward Ngagbe (Team Dr. Cyril Williams) with 2 wickets in 3 overs, and Moses Bamie Williams (Team Dr. Rodolph Dworzak) with 2 wickets in 6.0 overs.
George Edward Ngagba was named the Man of the Match for his outstanding performance.
At the Prince Of Wales School Cricket Ground, Alex Williams bowled Team Dr. Sahr Kpundeh out for 65 runs in 18.4 overs and replied with 66 runs in 9.1 overs.
The best batting performers were awarded to Eric M Turay (Team Alex Williams) with 24 runs from 19 deliveries, Edward Marrah (Team Dr. Sahr Kpundeh) with 17 runs from 15 deliveries, and Emmanuel Akpor (Team Dr. Sahr Kpundeh) with 17 runs from 33 deliveries.
The best bowling performances were awarded to Karim Kamara (Team Alex Williams) with 4 wickets in 5 overs, Lansana Lamin (Team Alex Williams) with 3 wickets in 3.4 overs, and Samuel Conteh (Team Alex Williams) with 1 wicket.
Based on performance, Karim Kamara was awarded Man of the Match.
Both team Dr. Cyril Williams and Team Alex Williams ended the league with 6 points each, but team Dr. Cyril Williams won the league with NRR of 1.806 compared to team Alex Williams’ NRR of 1.136
