The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has informed the general public that it has secured conviction of a lab assistant who was working at the United Brethren in Christ Hospital,Mattru Jong,Bonthe District.
Prince Amara, the convict in question is also a resident of No.3 Mission Road in the aforementioned district.
Mr. Amara was undergoing trial at the Bo High Court presided over by Hon. Justice Anthony Ganda.
Following a guilty plea by the accused on charges of misappropriation of public property and conspiracy to commit a corruption offence, a judgment was handed out by Justice Anthony Ganda.
The lab assistant was sentenced to pay a fine of Le30 Million Leones or face three years imprisonment.
The judge ordered that the accused must pay a fine of Thirty Million Leones (Le: 30,000,000) within Twenty-Eight Days; Fifteen Million Leones (Le 15,000,000) to be paid within fourteen (14) days from the date of the judgment and the balance Fifteen Million Leones (Le 15,000,000) to be paid in another fourteen (14) days, or serve Three-Year jail term.
In that regard, the Commission reassured the general public of its relentless commitment to curbing corruption at all levels in Sierra Leone.
