Justice Sahr Elogima Kekura J., sitting at the High Court in Kambia, has sentenced two convicts to the Kambia Male Correctional Facility on three counts: Conspiracy to Commit Burglary and Larceny contrary to law; Burglary and Larceny contrary to Sections 25(1) and 13(a) of the Larceny Act of 1916; and Receiving Stolen Goods contrary to Section 33(1) of the same Act.

According to the particulars of offence, on 18th October 2025, at Lamina Butcher Street, Magbema Chiefdom, Kambia District, in the North-West Region of Sierra Leone, the accused persons conspired with others unknown to commit burglary and larceny.

On count two, it was stated that on the same date and location, the first convict, Gbassay Sesay, broke into the dwelling house of Bilkish Kabia with intent to steal. He stole one pink suitcase, a set of Africana dresses, five pieces of trousers and skirts, twenty pieces of assorted clothing, and other items, all valued at Le102,070 and belonging to the said Bilkish Kabia.

On count three, the court heard that on the same date at Bampia Street, Bamoi Luma, Magbema Chiefdom, the second convict, Hajariatu Osman Bangura, received one pink suitcase valued at Le800, knowing it had been stolen from Bilkish Kabia.

The charges were read and explained to both convicts, and they pleaded guilty.

Neither convict had legal representation, and both pleaded with the judge to temper justice with mercy.

In his sentencing, Justice Kekura, considering their guilty plea and the fact that they did not waste the court’s time, sentenced Gbassay Sesay (first convict) include two years’ imprisonment on count one. Eight years’ imprisonment on count two. Hajariatu Osman Bangura (second convict) was sentenced to one year’s imprisonment, or a fine of Le1,000 payable to the State, on count three.
