Twenty-five-year-old Lamin Bala Kargbo, a motorbike rider, has been discharged for want of prosecution after facing three counts: robbery with aggravation, wounding, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, contrary to Section 47 of the Offences Against the Person Act of 1861.
According to the particulars of the offence, on Friday, 15 August 2025, at Palmer Drive, off Wilkinson Road in the western area of Freetown, the accused while allegedly armed with a knife reportedly robbed one Lamin Kargbo of a blue HLX125 TVS motorbike with registration number AYI 025, valued at twenty-seven thousand five hundred Leones (Le 27,500). The charge further stated that the accused used personal violence against the complainant before, during, or after the alleged robbery.
Counts Two and Three indicated that on the same date and location, the accused maliciously wounded and assaulted the complainant, causing him actual bodily harm.
When the charges were read and explained to the accused on his first court appearance, no plea was taken. He was also not legally represented during the proceedings.
After ten adjournments without any prosecution witnesses appearing, Magistrate Fornah discharged the accused for want of prosecution. The decision followed repeated absences of both the complainant and other key witnesses, despite several adjourned hearings. The matter was being prosecuted by Sergeant 8811 Florence M. Wilson.
