Thirty-two-year-old Ibrahim Jalloh, a driver, has been sentenced to five years in prison by Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah of Pademba Road Court No. 1 in Freetown after being found guilty of larceny, contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.

According to the details of the case, the incident occurred in December 2024 at Furniture, Allen Town, Freetown. Jalloh was found to have stolen a total of Le 35,400 (equivalent to approximately $1,400 USD) from a Ford Escape Jeep with registration number ANY 386. The stolen amount consisted of One Thousand Four Hundred United States Dollars ($1,400) and an additional One Thousand Eight Hundred Leones (Le 1,800). The property belonged to Ishmail Kamel Zayat.

In his ruling, Magistrate Jah stated that Jalloh’s conviction was based on his own voluntary statement to the police, which implicated him in the crime.

The prosecutor, Sergeant 9939 Mohamed Lahai, informed the court that the defendant was not a first-time offender. He revealed that Jalloh had recently been released from the Pademba Road Correctional Centre before committing this offence.

Before the sentence was handed down, Jalloh pleaded for mercy, but Magistrate Jah ordered that he serve a five-year sentence at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown.
