Sierra Leone’s Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Hon. Nabeela Farida Tunis, has reaffirmed the country’s commitment to embracing technological innovation within the tourism sector.
Speaking at the ongoing UN Tourism Conference in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Minister Tunis highlighted Sierra Leone’s efforts to harness Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance the tourism experience.
The Minister emphasized the government’s dedication to building a smart tourism ecosystem, referencing the establishment of a dedicated Ministry for Technology and Innovation by President Dr. Julius Maada Bio. Sierra Leone is eager to collaborate with the global tourism industry, particularly with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, whose leadership in smart tourism serves as an inspiration.
Minister Tunis expressed Sierra Leone’s ambition to become a leading ecotourism destination, where innovation benefits both people and communities, ensuring no one is left behind. She also reiterated the country’s support for the Riyadh Declaration, joining other member states in endorsing the document.
The conference brought together global leaders to discuss the future of tourism, and Sierra Leone’s participation highlights the country’s commitment to being part of the global tourism transformation.
