The Court of Appeal in Freetown has dismissed an appeal filed by former presidential candidate for the Alliance Democratic Party, Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray, against his conviction for sexual offences involving a minor. The court also issued a warrant for the arrest of Mansaray and his surety, Isha Baby Mansaray.
The ruling, delivered by Presiding Judge Abdulai Bangura on Monday, 10th November 2025, highlighted that the appellant had failed to appear in court since the beginning of the case. The court also noted the irregular attendance of his lawyer, Musa Pious Sesay, at the proceedings.
State prosecutor Yusuf Isaac Sesay applied for the case to be dismissed and a warrant for Mansaray’s arrest to be issued, citing his non-compliance with court sessions.
Justice Tonia Barnett and Justice Simeon Alieu also served as members of the sitting panel.
Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray, who is believed to be in the United States, was convicted in February 2023 and granted bail pending his appeal later that same year. However, with the dismissal of his appeal, the court has ordered his arrest and return to prison.
